What Is the Best Franchise to Buy?

Tuesday April 8, 2008
I get this question all the time. The answer is not very simple. The answer to this question is always different depending on who is asking the question. Not every franchise is fit for every person.

There are many factors to consider when investigating buying a franchise. The most important factor is choosing an industry you have interest in or have prior experience in. Many franchise ads will say "no experience necessary." While this may be true, buying a franchise in an industry that you are familiar with will help increase your chances for success. There are many different franchise opportunities to choose from.

The other problem I see is many people choosing to buy a franchise based on popularity. Just because you see a Quiznos in every town, does not mean they are all successful. As a matter of fact, Quiznos is in the middle of a lawsuit with many of its franchisees that claim some of Quiznos' strategies make stores unprofitable for franchisees. Always remember, popularity doesn't always equal profitability.
