From Employee to Franchisee: Making the Transition

Thursday May 22, 2008
Are you are ready to be your own boss? Once you decide that you would like to open a franchise, how can you go about making a smooth transition?

Giving your two weeks notice and then researching buying a franchise is not a good idea. If you are currently working and thinking about becoming your own boss, start researching which franchise is right for you today. Be sure to find a franchise that fits your lifestyle, past work experiences and budget. Once you decide on a franchise the next step is to make sure to save a portion of your salary for a length of time before you initiate your franchise operation. It is a good idea to accumulate six to nine months worth of financial protection. You can use this time to continue to research the franchise company you have chosen and be sure you are making the right choice.

Just keep in mind that going from employee to franchisee will have its pros & cons and ups & downs but in the long run you will be in charge of your own financial destiny.
