Do You Have What it Takes to be an Area Developer?

Thursday May 29, 2008
If you are thinking about buying a franchise and the thought of limiting yourself by opening just one unit scares you, becoming an area developer may be for you. If you choose the right franchise, becoming an area developer can be very financially rewarding.

What Exactly is an Area Developer?
An area developer is granted the right to open a pre-determined number of franchises in a certain geographic territory. Typically a schedule is provided as to how many units must be opened within a certain time period. The area developer typically hires some support staff to run each location. Eventually, the area developer will oversee all the units at a higher, simpler level.

If you have the capital and expertise to become an area developer I strongly suggest you consider it. Individuals with management experience are usually good candidates. Not all franchise companies offer area development opportunities. If you find one that does, be sure to investigate it very carefully.
