I get this question all the time. The answer to this question depends on the individual. If you are looking to be in complete control of your own business and have the final say, then maybe franchising is not for you.

If you have no past experience with running or managing a small business and are in need of guidance, then buying a franchise may be your answer.

One business model is not necessarily “better” than the other. Both starting a small business and buying a franchise have their pros and cons. You will always run into some obstacles in any type of business you choose.

If you have already decided that buying a franchise is not for you, there are many resources out there for individuals who are interested in starting their own business. I have found many great articles to help you start or open a business at StartupNation.com. They also have many great audio clips with tips to help you run your new business.

(1) Starting a Franchise :

What do you think is the greatest advantage to opening a franchise versus a small business? Do you recommend any specific franchises?
