Every entrepreneur, whether an independent business owner or franchisee, must embrace certain qualities or traits that pave the way to futue success and growth. Many times, the absence or weakness of any of these qualities could directly affect the performance of your business venture. As a franchisee, your goal is to acquire as many of these qualities as possible to strengthen the overall impact of your operations.
1. Plan Ahead
This phrase will appear over and over again. --
You see and hear about it in books, on billboards, on the radio -
- everywhere. It's easy to say, but not so easy to do.
Planning requires that you to ask specific questions now, which you will need the answers to later on down the road. Revisit your business plan and every section in it. Why did you write what you did? Did you mean it? Have you acted upon any of the initiatives you've included in it? Have you executed any of the actions or plans you indicated?
Regardless of what kind of business you run, planning ahead gives you the cushioning you may likely need in case something backfires on you down the road. Yes, it takes a lot of effort to plan for the future, but if you can master this quality early on in business, you will gain an indisputable edge over your competition. Plus, you will increase the odds of your business' survival.
2. Organize, Don't Dictate
Business is a lot like a military
campaign. Your mission? To make plenty of money so you can
survive until the next day -- and to get stronger and wiser in
your specific line of duty. You don't want to waste your time
dictating. This attitude will help you stay organized and
focused on your goals so that you can be successful in the
marketplace.
Nevertheless, being organized means taking all the ingredients in your business plan and adequately preparing to put them into action. You have to be serious about everything that you originally planned to do in order to make your business succeed. In other words, you must dot every I, cross every T, and make sure that no detail is left out of the equation.
