Different Types of Jazzercise Franchise Opportunities
- Instructor Franchise - An instructor franchise owner owns the franchise system and also teaches classes. These franchise owners are required to be certified Jazzercise instructors. Instructor franchise owners are allowed to hire substitute instructors to teach classes when they are not available.
Potential Jazzercise Instructor Franchisees must be trained and certified before becoming a franchisee. This certification includes a 100-question written exam on the following topics: basic anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, body composition, dance technique, injury prevention and exercise leadership. These trainees must also learn several Jazzercise dance routines and must obtain a cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate before becoming a franchisee.
Business Franchise - Business franchise owners are not required to teach any classes. The owner of the franchise will manage classes taught by a hired Jazzercise certified instructor.
Pros
- Low Investment: The franchise fee is only $1,000. (No, we are not missing a zero. It is only one thousand dollars.)
- Well-Established: Many people are familiar with the name Jazzercise. Being involved with a well-known and well-respected brand is always a plus.
Cons
- Very High Royalty Fee: The franchise royalty fee is 20%. Most royalty fees are usually less than 10%.
- Tough Training: You must become a certified dance instructor before you can qualify to open your own Jazzercise franchise.
- Not for Everyone: If you have no past experience being a dance instructor, I suggest you take a pass on this one.
